Northeastern Marine was originally founded by Bill Jones in 1985. What began as a one-man operation, run from the back of his hatchback car with four hand augers, grew into a respected marine construction company serving homeowners and businesses across northeastern North Carolina.
Today, under Bo’s leadership, Northeastern Marine Construction continues that legacy with a growing team of 18 skilled employees and a permanent office in Kitty Hawk, NC. What hasn’t changed is the company’s dedication to craftsmanship, reliability, and the Outer Banks community it serves.

Meet the Owner: Bo Owens
Robert “Bo” Owens grew up on the Outer Banks and has called it home his entire life. Raised around the water, Bo developed a deep appreciation for the coast and for the hardworking people who build along it.
In 2015, at just 25 years old, Bo launched Owens Sand & Grading, a company built on integrity, hands-on experience, and local trust. Five years later, in 2020, he had the opportunity to acquire Northeastern Marine Construction, a well-known name in the community since 1985.
Family, Community, & the Outer Banks Tradition
Bo met his wife, Kayla, in 2009. The two married in 2017 and welcomed their daughter, Cora, in 2018 and a son Little Bo in 2023. They live in Manteo, North Carolina, with their yellow lab Hank.
For Bo, Northeastern Marine Construction is more than a business. Our work is a continuation of the Outer Banks tradition of building with care and respect for the land. The projects we produce reflect that pride and commitment to the local way of life.
